About

Instructional Designer | Digital Humanist | Educator

I am an instructional designer, educator, and digital humanist who brings together the analytical depth of the humanities and the practical innovation of learning design. My work sits at the intersection of pedagogy, accessibility, and technology — transforming ideas into engaging and inclusive learning experiences.

Professional Background

A scholar-practitioner with a human-centered design approach

I earned my Ph.D. in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where I developed expertise in literature, composition, pedagogy, and the design of learning environments that cultivate critical engagement and inclusion. My doctoral work continues to inform how I think about communication, structure, and narrative in instructional design.

I hold two master’s degrees — one in English from Winthrop University and another in Digital Humanities from Loyola University Chicago. During my studies at Loyola, I formally trained in instructional design, e-learning development, and web design, learning to integrate technology with pedagogy to create meaningful digital learning experiences.

My experience spans learning theory, andragogy, instructional design models, and faculty development. I am well-versed in applying these frameworks to higher education contexts — designing learning that is not only accessible and rigorous but also humane and learner-centered.

Alongside my humanistic and pedagogical training, I have completed advanced coursework in web development and UX design. I design and code learning environments using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, and PHP — combining visual storytelling and technical skill to make knowledge visible, inclusive, and engaging.

When I'm not designing or teaching, I enjoy black and white photography, traveling, meditating, and reading fiction.

Design Philosophy

Designing for clarity, accessibility, and connection

My approach to instructional design begins with empathy — understanding learners as individuals with diverse backgrounds, needs, and goals. I believe that effective design emerges from listening closely, building iteratively, and creating environments where learners can explore confidently.

Every course, module, or interaction I design is guided by clarity and accessibility. My goal is to create learning that invites curiosity, fosters agency, and reflects the inclusive, human-centered principles that define my work as both an educator and designer.
